Reducing Anxiety and Panic Attacks

Today, it is common for people to look for all natural, holistic anxiety treatment options rather than sticking with the traditional therapy and prescription medication.

A more serious problem with anxiety can produce very uncomfortable sensations that often send people to the emergency room. For instance, you might experience chest pains, nausea, or hot flashes. You may even mistake an anxiety attack for a heart attack.

The good news is treating anxiety is not all that difficult. The bad news is you have to explore your options to find the right anxiety treatment for your condition and personality.

One option is to try treating anxiety with relaxation and breathing techniques designed to relieve the body and mind of stress.

Breathing techniques are powerful when you are in the throes of an attack because they take your attention off of the anxiety. You focus on controlling your breathing and in turn are able to control your anxiety.

Other ways of distracting yourself as form of anxiety treatment include going outside for a walk, turning on some music to dance, or just sitting in a comfortable position with a book. Calling up a friend to talk is also a great idea.

If you can control your mind by placing the focus on something more enjoyable, you can effectively control your anxiety as well.

You can also achieve stress and anxiety relief by adding exercise into your daily life. When you workout your body releases endorphins which boost your mood and contribute to a sense of well being. When done routinely, this can help relieve stress and anxiety.

You could do some type of group exercise class or just start walking, jogging or biking on your own. This is something that can be done whenever you want and from whatever location you happen to find yourself in.

It doesn't matter if you are dealing with anxiety or going through menopause or just having a lousy day. It always helps to have supportive friends around to help you through.

Ask around and you will likely find at least a couple friends who can relate to what you are experiencing right now. Make sure you have a list of friends that can be called when the anxiety becomes too much to bear.

Finally, make sure to eat a well balanced diet rich in vegetables and fruits. You want to stay away from alcoholic beverages and cigarettes because they can escalate the amount of anxiety you feel when something stressful is presented in your life.

If you are feeding your body a nutrient-dense diet plus getting adequate amounts of rest at night, you should be able to fight off anxiety with natural lifestyle strategies.
